No contracts. Otown wants to keep earning your business. We believe you will not want to tan anywhere else!! The membership program goes month to month, without any contracts.

Do I have to send in a check each month?
No, Otown is hassle free! One of the great benefits of membership is that the monthly fee is automatically debited from your credit card or check card.

After I pay the enrollment fee, will I need to pay this the following year?
No, the enrollment fee is a ONE TIME fee and will only be billed upon set-up of your account. Simply keep your account current and you will avoid the expense of canceling and restarting your membership.

What if I have a membership at another salon?
If there are any fees associated with cancellation, Otown will pay you back in upgrades!! We want you to start tanning with us right away... bring in your cancellation form from another salon, sign up to be an Otown member today, and tan for duration of the month at no additional cost!

Can I freeze or suspend my membership?
Yes, you may freeze your membership anytime by sending written notice 30 days prior to month's end. You will be assessed a $10 monthly fee. That fee, however, is CREDITED BACK TO you in upgrades as soon as you unfreeze your membership. You can freeze your account for up to 3 months at a time!

How do I cancel my membership?
Just come into our store and fill out a cancellation form. This must be done 30 days prior to the next draft date. This must also be done in person. Otown wants to provide the best service possible. Please let us know if there is something more we can do to keep you part of the OTown community!

Can I bring my children with me to tan?
The FDA prohibits children in any tanning room. If your children are old enough to watch themselves they may sit in the lobby while you tan. You can also bring an older child or friend to watch them, however OTown staff will be unable to do so.

How is a tan created?
There is an art to getting the best tan in a tanning bed. The best way to start, is knowing the rays they emit. The UVB rays make the melanin in your skin. When melanin is created it is red in color, overexposure to UVB and you see too much red, which we know is a burn.

The way the melanin turn brown is by exposure to UVA light.
The sun has more UVB and less UVA.  Our high pressure Platinum equipment manipulates that light to give you less UVB and more UVA giving you the darkest tan with a reduced risk of burning.

How do I protect my lips?
Use lip balm that blocks UV light when tanning to protect your lips. Lips do not produce melanin and are subject to burning and chapping when exposed to UV light.

How do I protect my sensitive areas never exposed to sunlight before?
Some customers have never exposed certain areas of their bodies to UV light. Underarms, breasts, and buttocks should be covered half way through the tanning process for the first five sessions.

Can pregnant women tan?
NO. Although there are no health risks associated with the UV light, the heat of the booth is unhealthy for pregnant women and could cause them to faint.  Spray tanning while pregnant is something that should be discussed with your doctor prior to spraying.

Why does a tan and a spray tan fade?
Tans fade due to the body's natural process of replacing old skin cells with new skin cells. Our cells are constantly sloughing off and being replaced. Moisturizing and using quality tanning lotions will slow down this process.

How often is a person allowed to tan?
Only once per day is allowed because the full tanning results may not be visible for a full 24 hours. For the safety of our customers, they may only tan once per day. But they may tan everyday if they desire, as long as they have not experienced any burning from their previous session.

Can our tanning equipment help relieve some symptoms of psoriasis?
Yes, it is true that many people who suffer from psoriasis have found relief from using our tanning equipment. They must seek the advice of their doctor to fully understand the implications.

Will indoor tanning protect me against sunburn?
Yes, a tan is your body's natural protection against sunburn. Indoor tanners are much less likely to sunburn than non-tanners. We encourage you to use sunblock when you are outdoors as the light is not regulated like inside the tanning bed and you may overexpose your skin.

Is tanning safe?
Unless your doctor has warned you against tanning because of a medical condition or use of certain prescription drugs, our booths are the best way to develop a tan. When tanning outdoors, the make-up of the atmosphere is constantly changing. Our booths give us a controlled environment with a measured amount of UVB. Tanning moderately and in steps can build a base tan without burning. We believe that indoor tanning is the smart way to tan.

I am taking medication, Can I still tan?
Some medications should not be taken while tanning. Consult with your doctor before tanning if you are taking medication.

Why do some people have trouble tanning their legs?
The legs are one of the hardest body parts to tan for women because we shave our legs. Shaving our legs is constantly scraping off the outer layer of the skin and causing our tan to fade faster than the rest of our body. Also, the legs are one of the driest parts of our bodies. This makes them hard to tan because dry skin will not tan well. To tan our legs we must moisturize them and lay off the shaving for a while. Use specifically formulated lotion for the legs or a lotion with a mild simulator and bronzer that contains high quality moisturizing factors. We suggest using tingle lotion on your legs. This helps stimulate blood flow that will increase the speed of the tanning process on your legs.

Why can't we just close our eyes when we are in the booths?
Approved eye wear must be worn because our eyelids cannot sufficiently block out the UV rays within the tanning booth. Eyelids are quite transparent, so eye protection must be worn while tanning.
